Canadian Dental Care Plan

Canadian Dental Care Plan

Tooth decay is the most common, but preventable, childhood chronic disease both in Canada and around the world. Since oral disease most frequently begins in the preschool years, it is important to establish good oral hygiene behaviors early on. Healthy teeth and gums make for a happier and healthier person! In Canada, one third of people do not have dental insurance, and as a result, many go without necessary dental care because it costs too much.

Experience the Benefits of the Canadian Dental Care Plan

With The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), implemented by the Government of Canada, you can access reliable, accessible and high quality oral health treatments. By participating in this plan, you can access a wide range of oral health treatments and ensure the aesthetics and functionality of your personal and unique smile!

Applications are now open for:

  • Seniors aged 65 and over
  • Children under the age of 18
  • Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit Certificate
  • All remaining eligible residents (not in one of the above groups) can apply starting in 2025.

What to Expect

To qualify for the CDCP, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You do not have any current dental insurance
  • Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,00
  • You are a Canadian resident (for tax purposes)
  • You have submitted your income tax return for the previous year

For more information regarding these qualifications, please visit the official program page at www.Canada.ca/Dental

Fast Facts about the CDCP

  • The CDCP is a government program meant to ease the financial burden and assist Canadians with their dental expenses.
  • It takes approximately 3 months for Service Canada to provide candidates for the program. As such, we recommend that you apply as soon as you can.
  • How much coverage you receive is based on your adjusted family net income. See below for a more detailed breakdown:
Family Income CDCP Coverage (%)
< $70,000 100
$70,000 – $79,000 60
$80,000 – $89,000 40
> $90,000 0

*Please keep in mind that the full level of coverage is based on CDCP fees. You will be responsible for making the CDCP co-payment as well as any portion of usual standard fees that are not covered by the CDCP.
